At CMS, we nurture children’s passion for learning.

Every child has a passion for learning, for exploration, for discovery. When their environment nurtures this natural enthusiasm, children learn valuable lessons that last a lifetime. At Chesterfield Montessori School, we honor children’s individuality and empower them to carry a belief in the dignity of work, and a sense of responsibility for their own development as happy and productive human beings.

Why do so many families choose Montessori?

Lessons are designed and given to each child when they are most ready to learn.

Social, emotional, and physical development is emphasized along with academic skills.

Freedom to move and choose activities fosters independence and self-confidence.

Current neurology and human development research consistently backs Montessori.

If you're here because you're curious about if Montessori is right for your child, this is your sign that CMS is a school you should very seriously consider. I was a student here back in the early 00s, from 1st-6th grade, and I can honestly say that CMS was the catalyst for a lifetime of joy of learning. Many of my most cherished memories come from my time at CMS: learning long division with the "racks and tubes" in lower elementary; tracing the chronology of our history on the timeline of life; presenting a research project on stars in upper elementary. At CMS, I learned more than just math facts and how to write an essay--I learned how to be responsible for my own learning and how to nurture meaningful relationships with my teachers and peers.

We enrolled both of our children at CMS as toddlers and 14 years later, are still grateful for our decision. They have grown up to be independent, thoughtful kids that love to learn and ask questions. The Montessori philosophy has served them well and cultivated a wonderful place (safe and challenging) for them to grow and develop. If you are looking for an authentic Montessori experience, Chesterfield Montessori School provides that.
