Chesterfield Montessori School

About CMS

Every child has a passion for learning, for exploration, for discovery. When their environment nurtures this natural enthusiasm, children learn valuable lessons that last a lifetime.

Beginnings

Chesterfield Montessori School was founded in 1981 as a private school serving children ages three to six years. Today CMS is a well-established, non-profit school recognized by AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) offering authentic Montessori programs at all levels from toddlers (16 months) through 12 years.

Our facility

Our beautiful sunlit facility is situated on five acres in the St. Louis suburb of Chesterfield, Missouri. Our campus includes a large swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds and a children’s garden. The Adolescent students have a satellite campus as well as a 7-acre Land Lab that supports field work and scientific studies.

Our school

The classrooms are open, inviting, well organized, and equipped with the full spectrum of materials scientifically developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Our students come from many countries and diverse backgrounds and share the richness of their cultures with our school community. Our teachers have all completed a rigorous academic year of AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) training beyond their undergraduate degrees. The partnership of parents, children and teachers creates a place where children and families grow and flourish. Our mixed-age classrooms are calm, peaceful and conducive to learning.

Why CMS?

With our peaceful environment, compassionate staff, and strong sense of community, we are dedicated to bringing the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori to the education of children. Learn more about what sets CMS apart!

Chesterfield Montessori School continues to amaze me in their unwavering commitment to providing their students with the very best. I graduated from CMS in 6th grade back in 2005 (when there wasn't yet a 7th or 8th grade, otherwise I definitely would have stayed) and my memories of the school have always been extremely bright and joyful — a community that I was excited to be a part of and teachers that I looked forward to spending my days with. Fast forward 15 years and I've had the honor of reengaging with the school and community to give back. I thought my memories must be rose-tinted by my age, but I'm more energized than ever about all this school offers. The staff truly care, the teachers are so devoted, and the community has so much to offer. If you're at all considering Montessori for your children, trust me when I say you do not want to miss out on this extremely rare, true Montessori experience.
