This year marks the second year that CMS Upper Elementary students have entered – and won – Shaw Nature Reserve’s annual “Take a Shot!” nature photography contest. Upper Elementary students have been studying photography under the guidance of elementary assistant teacher and professional photographer Samantha Glandon, and have learned not only how to use a complicated, professional camera, but about composition and subject matter as well. Photographs entered in the contest may not be digitally altered in any way. This year’s winners include Annabel Riet, with 1st place in Flora and 2nd place in Wildlife; Deren Pellegrini, with 1st place in Trees; Olivia Qian, with 1st place in Mini World; Peter Khoukaz, with 2nd place in Flora; David Sadasivam, with 2nd place in Mini World; Tegan Salaris, with 2nd place in Wildlife; William Azrak, with 3rd place in Flora; Paola Khoukaz, with 3rd place in Wild Life; and Max Wood, with 3rd place in Mini World.
Winning photographs are on display at the Bascom House at Shaw Nature Reserve until March 2015.
