In celebration of the 100th year anniversary of Dr. Maria Montessori’s original glass classroom at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915, Chesterfield Montessori School joined a group of local Montessori schools in presenting our own “glass classroom” exhibition at St. Louis’ Earth Day in Forest Park.
Primary, Elementary and Adolescent “classrooms” were in action under tents, with students working and having lessons while onlookers watched. Chesterfield Montessori’s adolescent students made garden globe seed balls on site out of soil they had composted over the course of the past school year, compacted with clay and native Missouri wildflower seeds. As they sold these to the crowd, they explained the Montessori Adolescent Program and their micro-economy.
Volunteers and family enjoyed speaking with visitors as well, and working in collaboration with the other Montessori schools. A big thank you to everyone involved for giving your time and effort to spend the day in Forest Park with us making this such a success!
