Thanks to all of the parents (and prospective parents) for joining us on Saturday, September 28 for our first-ever “Montessori Day of Discovery” — it was a huge success!
Fifteen current parents, four prospective parents, four teachers, and our Head of School gathered on a beautiful Saturday morning to explore the Montessori planes of development from Toddler to Adolescence. What started as an educational opportunity for parents quickly developed into a celebration of our community’s depth, diversity, connection and engagement. We spent time in the four classroom environments, where parents were able to work with the materials our students utilize each day. Teachers gave lessons (ask a parent who was there about the Bank Game!) and demonstrated how to gently guide a student to finding the correct answer while maintaining enthusiasm for learning.Seasoned and prospective parents expressed wonder and delight at experiencing Montessori materials first hand. We shared laughter and even a few tears as we reflected upon the connections between all of the planes of development and considered what is possible for our children and our world.
We look forward to hosting the next one on Saturday, February 2 from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Join us!
