Accreditation

Montessori educators recognize Chesterfield Montessori School as one of the finest schools in the United States.

CMS is recognized by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), and is fully accredited by Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS). We are also members of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and Independent Schools of St. Louis (ISSL).

AMI was founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori to ensure the authentic continuation of her educational philosophy and methodology. All of the teachers at CMS have undergone a rigorous academic year of training beyond their undergraduate degree. In addition, the school and staff undergo a yearly accreditation process by AMI to ensure the highest standard in Montessori education. Our teachers also attend an annual three-day Montessori AMI refresher course with their colleagues from around the country. The students enrolled at CMS benefit from the staff’s continuous professional development and high standards set by AMI.

ISACS is a membership organization of more than 230 independent schools from 13 states in the Midwest region. The purpose of ISACS is to promote the development of strong learning communities characterized by high achievements, social responsibility, and independence of governance, programs, and policies. This goal is achieved partly through a rigorous school accreditation process.

NAIS is a non-profit membership association that provides services to more than 1,700 schools in the United States and abroad. By advocating on behalf of its members, NAIS serves as the national voice of independent education. The association offers research and trend analysis, leadership and governance guidance, and professional development opportunities for school leaders.

ISSL, a non-profit professional association established in 1972, includes 45 independently governed, highly acclaimed private schools throughout the St. Louis region. Member schools offer diverse curricula and extraordinary teachers while fostering a life-long love of learning.

  • Thank you for your interest in our school!

Chesterfield Montessori School reopened our physical campus this past June and we are thrilled to have children back at school. We have been hard at work implementing our new safety guidelines and procedures during this unprecedented time. We are seeing first-hand how beneficial it is for our students to be in an environment that is designed to meet their unique developmental needs, along with their classmates, highly trained teachers and other loving adults.

Since we are an intimate community, we have flexibility to meet the children’s needs in a way that just isn’t available to large schools and systems. Our five acre main campus offers large, sunny classrooms with excellent ventilation, extra indoor space and plenty of outdoor space. Additionally, we have a seven acre Land Lab in Wildwood that is available to our older students. We are committed to offering individualized education for every child, designed to support your child’s unique individual needs by implementing the authentic Association Montessori Internationale method at every level.

While data is showing that we can educate our youngest children safely at school, we have created a strong Distance Learning option and hybrid schedule for older children as necessary, and will offer child care for essential workers, including extended care hours. (Parents and their employers determine who is an essential worker.) Our health and safety protocols have been designed in collaboration with infectious disease experts in our area, as well as the local Department of Public Health.
